Taiwo Awoniyi narrowly missed out on the Premier League Player of the Month accolade for August, with Tottenham Hotspur midfielder James Madison clinching the honour.
Awoniyi showcased his scoring prowess by finding the net in all three of Nottingham Forest’s Premier League fixtures in August. The 26-year-old also etched his name in history as the third African player to achieve the remarkable feat of scoring in seven consecutive Premier League matches.
Despite these impressive achievements, they were not enough to secure him the award. The shortlist for the accolade also included other noteworthy players such as West Ham’s Jarod Bowen, Manchester City’s Rodri, Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, and Brighton and Hove Albion’s Kaoru Mitoma.
