EPL: Manchester City suffer injury blow ahead of Chelsea clash

Manchester City will be missing a key player for their Premier League opener against Chelsea this Sunday, as manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that midfield anchor Rodri will not be available for the match at Stamford Bridge.

Rodri, a pivotal figure in City’s recent successes, sustained a suspected knee injury and was forced to leave the pitch at half-time during Spain’s Euro 2024 final win over England.

The 28-year-old has been absent from training sessions since his return to Manchester after a lengthy summer break, raising concerns among City fans about his fitness.

Guardiola addressed the situation, stating, “He didn’t train. I didn’t see him yet. I think he feels good, but we will see when he starts to move his body how he feels. But no chance [for Chelsea].”
