Manchester United midfielder, Paul Pogba has dismissed reports that the club has offered a mammoth £500,000-a-week deal to make him the highest-paid player in the Premier League in order for him to remain at Old Trafford.
Reports had emerged on Friday that the Man United hierarchy had made one final attempt to convince Pogba to stay and were prepared to make him the highest-paid player in the Premier League.
Pogba’s contract with Man United will expire in the summer of 2022.
The Frenchman, who is widely expected to leave Man United at the end of the season, is free to hold talks with foreign clubs this January transfer window.
The World Cup winner has drawn the interest of Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus.
However, a spokesman for Pogba has now denied the claims of a new contract offer, adding that there have been no new talks with Man United since negotiations broke down months ago.
In a statement to the Daily Mail, a spokesman for Pogba said: “To clarify media reports, Paul has not been offered a new contract in recent months.
“Paul is fully focused on his recovery from injury with the aim of helping the team as soon as possible.”
