Arsenal legend, Paul Merson, recently asserted that Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, has lost the support of his players in the dressing room.
Merson made this statement during a Sky Sports broadcast following Newcastle’s convincing 3-0 victory over the Red Devils in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.
Miguel Almiron, Lewis Hall, and Joe Willock all found the net for Newcastle, securing a comfortable win at Old Trafford.
“Newcastle made eight changes and United have been beaten 3-0.
“I personally think the manager has lost the players. There’s ways of losing football matches, and everyone loses matches, but they were completely beaten tonight after going 1-0 down as they were last week [against Manchester City],” Merson said.
This latest loss marked the eighth defeat for Ten Hag’s team in various competitions, intensifying the pressure on the Manchester United manager.
This defeat was the second 3-0 loss suffered at home within a span of four days, with the previous one occurring against Manchester City on Sunday.
