Former Manchester United striker, Wayne Rooney has urged the club’s fans to be a bit patient with Erik ten Hag as he takes over at the Old Trafford.
Erik ten Hag was confirmed as their next permanent manager on Thursday.
Rooney believes that United’s problems will not disappear “overnight” and Ten Hag needs to be given time.
Rooney told Sky Sports: “Obviously it’s a massive job.
“It’s good to see they’ve put a manager in there. It looks like they’re going to give him a bit of time, from what I’ve seen. I’m sure they’re going to let him rebuild the squad because that needs to happen.
“I think the fans have to be a little bit patient with it because it’s not going to change overnight or as quickly as you would like.
“So they need to be a little patient, as long as they see progression and players working and playing for the shirt, with a view of maybe challenging for the title in the next three years.”
