Mrs. Mimi Adzape-Orubibi, a former Benue North East Senatorial Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has vehemently denied allegations that she abandoned her children in Canada and returned to Nigeria to live with a Benue-based businessman. In response to a recent social media publication, Adzape-Orubibi refuted the claims and expressed her intention to seek legal redress against what she considers a malicious attempt to tarnish her reputation.
The social media report in question asserted that the former senatorial candidate had left her children behind in Canada and had come back to Nigeria to reside with a businessman in Gboko. It further claimed that her alleged return led to a confrontation with the businessman’s wife, resulting in Adzape-Orubibi’s eviction from their home.
In a telephone chat with newsmen, Adzape-Orubibi dismissed the allegations, clarifying that she was presently in Canada with her children. She expressed her deep concern over the false report and its potential to damage her reputation and credibility.
Adzape-Orubibi, a former chairman of Benue Internal Revenue Service (BIRS), stated that she had already engaged her lawyers and was prepared to take legal action against those responsible for the dissemination of false information.
“As I speak with you, I’ve been in Canada with my family, and I am always here with them, so why fabricate such falsehoods against me to smear my professionalism?
“I know the said businessman, and we remain family friends. And it is not right for anyone to try to ridicule me before the public through deliberate falsehood; I will not hesitate to seek justice, and on this matter, I have already given the go-ahead to my lawyers to seek justice for me,” she said.
She stressed that the report was a baseless fabrication designed to defame her character and besmirch her professional standing. Furthermore, she highlighted her family’s longstanding relationship with the mentioned businessman and emphasized the importance of addressing the matter through legal channels.
