Grace Taiga, the former Director of Legal Services at the Ministry of Petroleum Resources who was accused of accepting bribes from Process and Industrial Developments (P&ID) Limited, has passed away.

Her death reportedly occurred in September but was not publicly disclosed until now.

She succumbed to kidney disease in September 2023, and her funeral is scheduled for December in Delta State.

Taiga, who served in the Ministry of Petroleum Resources and later in the defence sector until her retirement on September 1, 2010, played a significant role in a London court’s decision to overturn an $11 billion award against Nigeria in the P&ID case.

The court ruled that the award had been secured through fraud and was contrary to public policy.
