The 2022 edition of the FIFA World Cup would kick off in faraway Qatar today.

This is the first time the mundial would hold on Middle East soil.

Before 2022, the World Cup has never been played in the winter season.

For the next 30 days, the world would speak one language.

Over 32 countries from different continents are already in the oil-rich city to battle for the golden trophy.

Among the 32 countries, five countries have been tipped by sport pundits to shine at the fiesta.

They include: Argentina, England, France, Brazil and Germany.
From Africa, only Senegal is the favourite team among buffs.

In the opening match today by 5pm, the host nation, Qatar, would tackle the The Tricolors of Ecuador.
