Following the crisis that has engulfed the Ezza and Effium communities of Ohaukwu LGA in Ebonyi state, the Executive Chairman of Ado local government Area, Benue State, Comrade James Oche, has directed the beefing up of security at areas bordering the affected communities.

This step, according to the Chairman, is a preemptive measure towards ensuring that the crisis does not, in any way, affect the local government area.

Speaking to the Publisher of Naija Voice News on the directive, Comrade Oche stressed that Ado local government area has witnessed peace for some time, following measures put in place by his administration, and that the Council Area could not afford the setting up of Internally Displaced Persons’ (IDPs) camps at the moment, hence the need to take proactive measures to ensure peace and tranquillity in the Council Area.

The Security Operatives comprising a team of police officers and the Operation Whirlstroke among others, is to be led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO). The State Commissioner of Police and Special Adviser on security matters to Governor Samuel Ortom have also been reached for further security action.

It could be recalled that the two communities in Ebonyi have witnessed hostilities as a fallout of a misunderstanding between members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) on who becomes their leader.
