FACT CHECK: Are these the vehicles Nigeria acquired for Niger Republic?

IDOMA VOICE has stumbled on a video clip alleging the arrival of the vehicles purported purchased for Niger Republic by the Nigerian government.

President Muhammadu Buhari had approved N1,145,000,000 for the purchase of vehicles for the government of Niger Republic.

This development angered many Nigerians on social media after it was exposed by a popular social media influencer, David Hundeyin.

Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed, justifying the decision, said while Nigerians have the right to ask questions, President Buhari, who approved the purchase, also has the right to make his own assessment on situations and act on them accordingly.
Eagle Media TV Nigeria shared a video showing over 100 vehicles loaded on a train.

The page titled it: Here is Buhari’s vehicle gift to Niger Republic delivered this afternoon.

VERIFICATION
Finding by IDOMA VOICE has shown that the video was first posted on Tik Tok through a handle konnaksroksra168 on July 31, 2022.

The video was captioned in Khmer language thus: “រថភ្លើងដឹកឡានលើកទី 3 ៣១ ០៧ ២០២២. Meaning. “The third freight train 31 07 2022.”

A fact check on the video showed that they were not the vehicles purchased by the Nigerian government of Nigeria Republic.

VERDICT: False. The video is untrue and misleading as it has nothing to do with Nigeria or Niger Republic.
