FACT CHECK: Did Pastor Adeboye endorse Tinubu for president?
Nigerians, particularly political observers were stunned on Tuesday following the news that the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye has thrown his weight behind the candidature of the presidential ambition of Bola Tinubu.
Tinubu is the current presidential flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress.
Tinubu would be slugging it out against Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Peter Obi of Labour Party in the 2023 presidential election.
There are clamour in some quarters for the APC candidate to pick a fellow Muslim as his running mate.
This, however, did not go down well with many Christians who vowed to vote against the ruling party.
However, a report emerged on Tuesday that Daddy GO, as Pastor Adeboye is fondly called, has thrown his weight behind Tinubu.
The report claimed that Adeboye made his decision known during a meeting with Tinubu and his wife, Oluremi.
The story, which has since gone viral, showed Tinubu and his wife pictured with Adeboye in an office believed to be that of the latter.
Story behind the picture
Meanwhile, findings by IDOMA VOICE have shown that the picture was taken in August 2018 during the ordination of Senator Oluremi Tinubu as an Assistant Pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).
The ordination service which was held on the second day of the church’s 66th annual convention, had the All Progressives Congress (APC) national leader Tinubu in attendance.
