The spokesman of the Atiku Abubakar Presidential campaign council, Dino Melaye, lied in his assertion that Facebook was agog when human rights activist Gani Fawehinmi contested for presidency in 2003.
Dino Melaye had during an interview with Channels Television claimed Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi cannot win in 2023, said Facebook went agog for Gani in 2003 but he had less than 2,000 votes.
He said, “We have seen this before, Gani Fawehinmi once ran for the presidency of this country, Facebook went agog, at the end of the day, he got 1,400 votes.”
However, findings by IDOMA VOICE showed that Facebook was founded in 2004, a year after the election.
His claim that Gani polled less than 2,000 votes is untrue as findings by this reporter have also shown that Gan polled 161,333 votes to come fifth behind Obasanjo, Buhari, Ojukwu and Nwobodo.
