DID TINUBU MEET WITH WIKE IN FRANCE?

IDOMA VOICE reports that during the week, a report emerged that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, had a secret meeting with Governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike, in France.

It was Joe Igbokwe, a chieftain of the APC in Lagos that broke the news in a Facebook post, IDOMA VOICE reports.
Igbokwe in the post, which he later pulled down, claimed while supporters were busy throwing tantrums online, Wike and Tinubu were having a secret meeting in France.

The post, before it was pulled down, had some many re-shares and reactions. There were few comments because the author restricted people from commenting on his post.

Truth behind every lie
In every lie, they say, there is an element of truth.
One may not completely throw out Igbokwe’s claim due to his status as a ranking member of the ruling party in Tinubu’s Lagos State.

This is coupled with the ongoing rancour in the PDP due to the refusal of its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar to pick Wike as his running mate.
The development has pitched some party members against Atiku, with many publicly coming out to express their displeasure and threatening to work against him in 2023, IDOMA VOICE reports.

Wike keeps mum
Three days after the viral post, Wike, a former presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had remained mute on the authenticity of Igbokwe’s post.

Wike, who is currently holidaying in Turkey, has not reacted to the report to set the record if it is true or not.

Tinubu reacts

However, on Friday night, the Tinubu Media Office in a statement signed by Tunde Rahman said although the APC flag bearer holds Wike in high esteem, such a meeting never took place.

He said, “We have seen a viral social media post made by one of the chieftains of All Progressives Congress in Lagos State and media reports emanating from same about a supposed meeting in France between APC Presidential Standard-bearer, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and His Excellency, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, IDOMA VOICE report.

“It has become imperative to set the record straight. Although Asiwaju Tinubu is presently in France, he didn’t have any meeting with Governor Wike whether in that country or anywhere whatsoever.

“This, however, does not detract from the fact that the APC presidential candidate holds Governor Wike in high esteem, IDOMA VOICE reports.
