FCT shuts down Jabi Lake Mall for holding Naira Marley Concert

The FCT Ministerial Task Team on COVID-19 on Sunday sealed up Jabi Lake Mall int he JABI District indefinitely for violating the Presidential Task Force’s directives on the ban on public gatherings as part of measures to contain the spread of the dreaded pandemic in the territory.

The team was led by the Chairman of the FCT Ministerial Task Team on Covid19, Mr Ikharo Attah and had members of the Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB) on hand to effect the action.

POLITICS NIGERIA learned that Marley came into Abuja in a private jet alongside his crew to perform at the concert in Abuja organised by Network Africa and Traffic Bar at Jabi Lake on Saturday.

Marley’s concert led to gross violations of the social distancing directive put in place by the Nigerian government to curb the spread of COVID-19. Several Nigerians condemned the artist for holding a performance amidst the Pandemic.

Many Nigerians took to social media to criticise Marley. The development was described as a setback to the nation’s fight against the ravaging pandemic.
