The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has taken decisive action by closing two private schools, Erudite Bright Kids in Kagini and Jane’s Angela School in Abuja Municipal Area Council, for not meeting the minimum educational standards set by the FCT.
Dr. Danlami Hayyo, the Mandate Secretary of the Education Secretariat at FCTA, led the initiative, aiming to uphold the quality of teaching and learning within schools across the FCT.
He emphasized that this move aligns with the mission of the Department of Quality Assurance, which is responsible for accrediting schools, monitoring, and conducting inspections to maintain high educational standards.
The primary goal is to ensure that educational services are of the highest quality, in compliance with establishment requirements and the enforcement of prescribed minimum standards outlined in the operational guidelines for schools.
Dr. Hayyo stressed, “Under normal circumstances, no school should operate within the FCT without proper registration, payment of dues, and fulfillment of necessary requirements. The secretariat, through the Department of Quality Assurance, is committed to streamlining the system to enhance the teaching and learning process. We are dedicated to intensifying our efforts to ensure FCT schools can compete effectively within the global education landscape.”
