The influx of vehicles plying Ikare- Akoko township road, now under going dualization is becoming a matter of concern for its inhabitants.
The vehicles mostly trailers and others, hauling goods to either northern or southern parts of the country are usually driving in a reckless manner within the metropolis without regards for other road users.
It was gathered that many of the drivers are not familiar with the terrains of the road, hence they need to be cautious.
Another factor that led to diversion of many vehicles to the axis is the deplorable condition of Ibadan- Ilorin-Mokwa road which had forced many motorists to ply the road.
A resident and eyewitness, Mr Jamiu Muritala, who witnessed two incidents of dangerous dimension that led to loss of many lives. recalled a bloody road carnage involving motorcyclists and atrailer, stressing that the way many of these drivers were operating gave residents a lot of concern.
Muritala noted that with the approaching human and vehicular activities along the business area of Ikare will be much.
A community leader, Chief Saliu Okoja , described Ikare-Akoko as only major town in Ondo State where vehicles ply the major township road.
Chief Okoja advocated for the rehabilitation of Orita Ipele, Idoani, Ifira, Isua, Akunu to kabba roads as an alternative to this dangerous trends which had led to many accidents at Okerigbo hill in Akungba-Akoko involving many casualties.
When contacted, the Acting Unit Commander of Federal Road Safety Commissioner (FRSC) in Ikare Akoko, Mr kabiru Mohammed, promised to assign his men to some flashy points like Jubilee Junction around Olukare palace, and Oloko junction to forestall any problem.
He warned motorists against night journeys, disobedience to traffic rules and guidelines.
Kabiru urged motorists to always service their vehicles before embarking on their journey as Ember months are not killer months.
