The federal government has approved a special train service to mark the Christmas and New Year celebrations, providing a festive travel option for Nigerians.
The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) announced the development in a statement on Wednesday, issued by its Deputy Director of Public Relations, Yakub Mahmood.
According to the statement, the directive came from the Federal Ministry of Transportation, though the specific details and schedules for the special service will be made public in the near future.
The statement reads: “In compliance with the Federal Government’s directive through the Federal Ministry of Transportation, the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) announces the commencement of special end-of-year train services in celebration of Christmas and the New Year.”
The special service will run on scheduled passenger trains, offering Nigerians a convenient and festive mode of transportation for the holidays. “The dates and full details of the special train service will be shared with the public soon,” the NRC added, wishing all its customers a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in advance.
