Abuja’s Federal High Court headquarters has been enveloped in mourning following the unexpected passing of one of its esteemed Judges, Hon. Justice Peter Hoommuk Mallong. The judge’s demise occurred on Sunday evening in Abuja, a mere 48 hours after the court’s yearly vacation for judges commenced.
The Chief Registrar of the Court, Hassan Amida Sulaiman, officially confirmed the sorrowful news in a brief statement released on Monday. In the statement, he expressed deep sadness and conveyed the heavy hearts of the court’s staff and associates upon hearing of Justice Mallong’s passing.
Hon. Justice Peter Hoommuk Mallong, a dedicated and respected figure within the Federal High Court, breathed his last on July 30, 2023, following a brief illness. The suddenness of his departure has left the legal community and colleagues in shock and grief.
The Chief Registrar conveyed the court’s profound sense of loss, stating that Justice Mallong’s absence would be deeply felt, and his contributions to the judiciary would be missed beyond words.
