By Tom Mosco Idoko:
It all started like a soap opera or comedy in Nollywood, but it is beyond mere drama. It is now a reality.
I have repeatedly said on this platform that the unity of Idoma nation should be considered above all other considerations. Expectedly, the ancestral calabash of destiny is beginning to smile on the great Idoma nation.
It is an absolute truism that the Distinguished Senator David Mark was the brain behind the Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo. In his wisdom and capacity as president of the Senate, he conceptualized the noble idea of having a university in zone C. His idea paid off as the former president Goodluck Jonathan announced the establishment of the university before he left office. The government of President Muhammadu Buhari felt it was hurriedly done, and therefore had to go through the normal process. Yet, our Mark of honour didn’t relent.
On assumption of office as Minister, Chief Audu Ogbeh continued from there. He kept reminding the president of the need for a university in the entire zone C. His efforts also added much to efforts of the Distinguished senator Mark.
And finally, when the vibrant and articulate Senator Abba Moro took over the mantle of leadership, he finished the work.
This is what true leadership entails. In bringing development closer to the people, the question of political party affiliation is unnecessary. The question of where the school should be located was also unnecessary. The question of whether we are Ado, Okpokwu, Otukpo, Oju, Agatu, Obi, Ogbadibo, Ohimini or Apa wasn’t an issue. All we needed was to locate the university in zone C, and God has answered our prayers.
Finally, I thank President Muhammadu Buhari for making our dream a reality.
Development is truly beyond political party affiliations.
God bless zone C.
