Angus Cloud, who gained fame for his role as drug dealer Fezco “Fez” O’Neill in the popular HBO series Euphoria, tragically passed away at the age of 25. According to his family’s statement, Cloud died at his family home in Oakland, California. Last week, he had laid his father to rest and was facing a challenging battle with mental health.
In the family’s statement, they expressed their profound grief at losing an incredible human being. They found some solace in knowing that Angus was now reunited with his late father, who had been his closest companion. The family also urged others not to suffer silently and to seek help and support for their mental health struggles.
The cause of Cloud’s death has not been disclosed. However, it was revealed that he had been grappling with severe suicidal thoughts since his return from Ireland, where he buried his father. During this difficult time, he had been staying with family, attempting to work through his grief.
Angus Cloud’s talent and contribution to the HBO and Euphoria family were acknowledged by HBO in a heartfelt statement. His role as Fezco garnered him recognition and acclaim, and his character’s storyline was expanded in the show’s second season.
Despite not initially aspiring to be an actor, Cloud’s life took a different turn when he was unexpectedly discovered by a casting agent while working at a chicken and waffle joint. His breakout role in Euphoria propelled his career to new heights.
Euphoria, which aired in 2019, quickly became a sensation, and by 2022, it was the most tweeted-about TV show of the decade in the US. Cloud’s performance, along with the rest of the cast, was highly praised.
In 2022, Cloud defended the show against accusations of glorifying drug use. His Euphoria co-star, Javon “Wanna” Walton, who portrayed his adoptive brother Ashtray, paid tribute to him on Instagram, saying, “Rest easy brother.”
Politicians, including California congresswoman Barbara Lee, and fellow actors, like Kerry Washington, expressed their sadness over the loss of “Oakland’s own” and praised his immense talent.
Angus Cloud’s untimely death has left the entertainment industry and fans in mourning, and his work and legacy will be remembered fondly by many.
