The Nigerian Senate has approved the recruitment of an additional 30,000 youths into the Nigeria Police Force to address manpower shortages and boost effective policing across the country.

Chairman of the Senate Committee on Police Affairs and Senator representing Jigawa North East, Ahmad Abdulhamid Malam Madori, disclosed the development on Friday, June 27, during a briefing with journalists in his office.

Madori explained that the Police Service Commission (PSC) has received authorization from the Federal Government to proceed with the recruitment process.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has given the commission the go-ahead to recruit the number annually to fill the gaps in the Force,” the senator stated.

He added that the PSC will advertise the recruitment exercise through national newspapers and urged Nigerians to remain vigilant to avoid falling victim to fraudsters posing as agents of the commission.

In a related development, the Federal Government has announced a new date for the commencement of recruitment into various paramilitary agencies under the Ministry of Interior.

The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) announced on Wednesday that the recruitment portal, originally scheduled to open on June 26, 2025, will now go live on Monday, July 14, 2025.

“The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), wishes to notify the general public that its recruitment portal, which was earlier slated to open on Thursday, 26th June, 2025, will now open on Monday, 14th July, 2025,” the statement read.

The Board also clarified that the official recruitment portal is **recruitment.cdcfib.gov.ng**, and warned applicants against paying money to individuals or entities claiming to represent the board.

“All applications are free of charge,” the CDCFIB emphasized, while apologizing for any inconvenience caused by the change in schedule. The Board reiterated its commitment to ensuring a transparent and seamless recruitment process.
