FG explains why Tinubu renamed Ministry of Information and Culture

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has explained the rationale behind President Bola Tinubu’s decision to rename the Ministry of Information and Culture to the Ministry of Information and National Orientation.

He stated that the objective of this change was to facilitate the reorientation of Nigerians, aiming to revive their national identity and values as a cohesive nation. This directive was given to him directly by the president.

Additionally, Tinubu tasked Idris with promoting patriotism, honesty, and transparency as fundamental principles of the administration.

In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja, Idris stated, “President Bola Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ is designed to elevate Nigeria to a commendable position on the global stage and shift the negative perception surrounding the country.”

“He entrusted me with the duty to guide Nigerians in this reorientation process during our time in office, so that we can collectively regain our national consciousness and set our course in the right direction.”

Acknowledging the prevalent moral decay across various segments of society, he emphasized the significance of renaming the ministry, underscoring the president’s determination to prioritize orientation and reorientation.

“It signifies the president’s commitment to prioritizing orientation and reorientation as crucial focal points of his administration,” Idris explained.

Furthermore, Idris highlighted that President Tinubu is actively promoting values such as patriotism, honesty, and transparency, aiming to infuse these virtues into the fabric of society for the greater good of all.
