FG reveals when N-Power 8-month debts will be paid
The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation has successfully retrieved funds that were being held by the N-Power consultant for an extended period. The announcement came after a meeting with representatives of N-Power beneficiaries.
Mr. Akindele, the National Program Manager of N-Power, shared this encouraging development, assuring beneficiaries that they will receive their long-awaited payments soon. He specifically mentioned that the payments for N-Power Beneficiaries Batch C, who had been owed for eight months, would commence shortly.
Akindele also commended the efforts of the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu, for diligently working to address irregularities within the scheme and other social investment programs. He acknowledged that these irregularities had eroded public trust in the government’s ability to provide a social safety net.
To counter these challenges, Dr. Edu has been actively addressing issues that have hindered the smooth implementation of the program. One notable concern was the delay in monthly allowances to many beneficiaries, caused by a consultant managing the enrollment and payment system whose contract had expired. Akindele expressed optimism that the recovered funds would enable the timely disbursement of payments to deserving beneficiaries.
