FIFA Ranking: Super Eagles maintain 39th position
Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, maintained their position at number 39 in the most recent FIFA Coca-Cola world ranking, as per the latest update on FIFA’s official website on Thursday, July 20.
In the African region, the Super Eagles retain the sixth position, following closely behind Morocco, Senegal, Tunisia, Algeria, and Egypt, who hold the top five spots, respectively.
Interestingly, Lesotho, one of the Super Eagles’ group opponents in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers (Group C), is the only team to make a significant upward move in the rankings, climbing to 151.
On the other hand, South Africa and Zimbabwe experienced drops in their rankings, settling at 63rd and 125th, respectively. Meanwhile, Benin Republic remained consistent at 93rd, and Rwanda maintained its position at 139.
In the top ten rankings, no changes have occurred, with European and South American teams dominating the elite positions. Argentina, the reigning world champions, sit comfortably at the top, followed closely by France and Brazil in second and third place, respectively. England, Belgium, and Croatia complete the top six.
