Fire destroys goods worth millions in popular Nkwo Ogbe Market in Anambra

A fire outbreak on Sunday destroyed goods worth millions of naira at Nkwo Ogbe Market in Ihiala, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State.

It was gathered that the fire started in the afternoon.

According to sources in the community, the market is one of the biggest and densely populated in the area.

However, at the time of filing this report, the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained.

Meanwhile, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Valentine Ozigbo, has condoled with the traders in the market.

Ozigbo said he received the heartbreaking news of the fire outbreak this Sunday afternoon with great pains.

“This is one more tragedy in a string of market fires in which our people have lost millions of naira and there is no emergency service in sight whether it be the Anambra State Fire Service, medical, or other emergency services.

“I condole with Ndi Ihiala who have suffered untold and needless hardships.

“I feel your pain and I will soon visit the scene for a spot assessment.

“The suffering of our people due to an ineffectual, dysfunctional, and insensitive government, by the grace of God, will soon be over,” he said.
