A major fire swept through the Felele area of Ibadan, Oyo State, on Tuesday, engulfing two churches and a furniture shop and causing extensive property damage estimated in the millions of naira.
Fortunately, no lives were lost in the blaze, thanks to the quick response from firefighters who managed to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading further.
Yemi Akinyinka, General Manager of Fire Services in Oyo State, confirmed the incident, specifying that the fire occurred at No. 51, Debo Plaza, opposite Lam Adesina Junction, Felele, Ibadan. The affected buildings include the Redeemed Christian Church of God, a New Covenant parish, and a furniture shop.
Akinyinka reported that the fire predominantly destroyed plastic chairs and PVC ceiling materials.
Resident Mrs. Dauda Ireoluwa mentioned that the cause of the fire is still under investigation and that the community responded swiftly after distress calls were received.
