The Kwara State Fire Service successfully retrieved the lifeless body of a seven-year-old boy named Abdul-Haayi.
The unfortunate incident took place at Yaa-Lateef House, situated on Tinu Street in the Akerebiata area of Ilorin, Ilorin East Local Government, at approximately 5:28 pm.
A concerned neighbor, Mr. Idowu, alerted the fire service by phone after witnessing the distressing event unfold. The firefighters promptly arrived at the scene.
Hassan Adekunle, the spokesperson for the fire service, reported that the rescue team managed to recover the young boy’s body from the well. They later handed it over to Mr. Yussuf, a family member of the deceased.
The incident occurred while the young victim was attempting to fetch water from the well. Tragically, he slipped and fell into the well.
The Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, expressed sadness over the incident and urged the general public to be more careful in their day-to-day activities and should desist from sending underage children to fetch water from domestic wells.
