First Bank is set to break ground on its new green-certified, iconic head office at Eko Atlantic City, Lagos, today.
The 40-storey building, designed to be the tallest in Nigeria, boasts state-of-the-art, eco-friendly construction that promises to redefine standards in Africa’s financial services sector.
Olayinka Ijabiyi, Acting Group Head of Marketing & Corporate Communications at First Bank of Nigeria Limited, said the ceremony marks the start of a transformative journey. “This project underscores our unwavering commitment to excellence, innovation, and customer satisfaction,” he explained. The new headquarters is designed with sustainability at its core, reducing operational costs and establishing FirstBank as a leader in green banking practices.
Chief Executive Officer Olusegun Alebiosu described the groundbreaking as “a significant milestone” in the bank’s storied 130-year legacy. “Our new Head Office is envisioned as a world-class structure that reflects our dedication to innovation, customer satisfaction, and sustainability. We believe it will catalyze economic growth and create long-term value for all our stakeholders,” he stated.
Chairman of FirstHoldCo, Femi Otedola, also commended the collaborative effort behind the project, emphasizing the critical support from customers and stakeholders in turning this vision into reality.
High-profile dignitaries, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senators, State Governors, Federal Ministers, and industry leaders, are expected to attend the event, highlighting the project’s significance to Nigeria’s economic future.
