Five dead, others badly injured as Lord’s Chosen Church bus rams into Coca-Cola staff in Imo

Tragedy struck on Friday morning as at least five persons lost their lives in a collision involving a Coaster bus belonging to the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Renewal Movement and a tipper truck in Imo State. The incident occurred along the bustling Owerri-Onitsha Road, leading to a heavy traffic jam.

According to eyewitnesses present at the scene, both vehicles were traveling in the same direction when they collided in Orogwe, situated in the Owerri West Local Government Area of the state.

Some eyewitnesses who spoke to TVC news said more of the casualties are Coca-Cola staff who were waiting to be picked up by their staff bus when the luxury bus ran over them.
According to them, the luxury bus which was on high speed was trying to overtake the tipper before the driver lost control and veered off the road.

The quick response of Federal road safety corps, the Nigerian police and Nigerian security and civil defence corps helped to safe some casualties.
They were also helping to clear the gridlock caused by the accident for free flow of vehicular movement.

One eyewitness revealed that among the deceased were three workers from the Coca-Cola depot, adding that the impact of the accident was catastrophic. The collision was attributed to the Coaster bus attempting to overtake the tipper truck, leading to a loss of control and subsequent collision with the shop and nearby pedestrians.
