Africa is a crucial continent for the spreading of God’s Word. And for over 10 years, Pastor Ina Omakwu made it his life’s work to turn his native Nigeria to Christ.
Ina spent 11 years in the U.S. training for ministry so he could return to his homeland. In 1993 he founded Family Worship Center in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria. The church has grown from a humble beginning of 47 people to over 8,000 members today.
Pastor Ina was also a part of the CBN family. In 1997 he started the WorldrReach Nigeria office in partnership with CBN International. Millions of Nigerians have been assisted through this ministry.
He leaves behind his wife Sarah and their three children, Blessing, Favor, and Worthy. He also leaves behind a legacy of faithfulness and hard work for the Kingdom of God.
In 2001, Ina began to suffer excruciating headaches. It was determined that he had a deadly, inoperable brain tumor. After living with it over a year, Ina went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday February 25, 2003.
