Floods devastate five communities in Yobe
The Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has reported severe flooding across five communities in Fune Local Government Area. The agency’s assessment aimed to gauge the damage and displacement caused by the floods, underscoring the urgent need for continued support and intervention.
The assessment, conducted under the directive of Governor Mai Mala Buni, is focused on creating profiles of the victims to provide immediate, short-term, and long-term solutions.
The affected communities are Ngelzarma, Damagum, Kayeri, Mashio, and Kafaje, with a total of 1,598 households severely impacted. The floods have resulted in 44 reported injuries and several fatalities across these areas.
SEMA is calling on all stakeholders to collaborate in ensuring effective coordination of relief efforts to assist those in need. The agency remains committed to mitigating the effects of the flooding and supporting the resilience of the affected communities.
