In the wake of the raining season in Makurdi, flood has posed a devastating threat to all that is left in terms of property, for the late First Executive Governor of Benue State, Mr. Apollos Aper Aku. This has been the cry of his first son, Mr Akua Aku.
The house which is located at Gyado Villa axis of Makurdi over the years comes under heavy flooding and from the look of things, the house may no longer be able to withstand the flood for long anymore. Mr Akua further lamented that, the water the flows from the international market axis and Gyado villa comes towards the house, hence there is no control drainage.
However, there is a flood drainage on the side of the Benue State University Teaching Hospital and if one could be graciously created to divert the water into that drainage, the problem faced by the Akus will be solved. They currently face a precarious situation.
History, we know holds Aper Aku in high esteem because, though within a short time, he was able to do so much for his people and in my opinion, that which is good to be done to his family to preserve them especially from the dangers of impending flood should be done.
I passionately appeal to the Benue State Governor and the Commissioner for Water Resources and that for works that, this passionate cry from the family of Mr. Aper Aku be considered. The entire area where the house is located faces the same challenge and so coming to the rescue of the Akus will mean saving the other residents of Gyado Villa and the community opposite Benue State University Teaching Hospital of the dangers of the flood.
