Former Falcons coach predicts where Nigeria will finish under Randy Waldrum

Godwin Izilein, a former coach of the Super Falcons, believes that the current team led by Randy Waldrum has the potential to surpass their previous quarter-finals record at the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup.

In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Calabar, Izilein expressed confidence in the team’s abilities but highlighted the need for improved cohesion in their gameplay.

He praised the team’s performance so far in the tournament, stating that they have exceeded the expectations of many. However, he emphasized that effective ball possession and marking skills are crucial for a better outcome in their upcoming matches.

“It is advantageous to keep possession of the ball. Our girls also need to learn how to mark when dispossessed,” Izilein remarked.

Encouraging the team to seize the opportunity and make history, the former coach urged them to use the ongoing World Cup to leave a lasting mark for Nigeria.

Expressing concern over the country’s previous showings in the tournament, Izilein urged the current squad to capitalize on their strength and experience to achieve greater success.

“We have the materials, the girls are strong and experienced, we can achieve it,” he added.
