Former Minister of Interior, Bello Yusuf Maitama Yusuf, known as Sardaunan Dutse, has passed away at the age of 76.
Having served as a senator from 1999 to 2007, Maitama breathed his last in the early hours of Friday, as confirmed by a family friend, Alhaji Hussaini Dalhatu, to Daily Trust.
The funeral prayer is scheduled to take place at the Kano Emir’s palace on Friday following the Jumu’at prayer.
Born in 1947 in Gwaram Local Government Area of Jigawa State, Maitama held the position of Minister of Interior in 1981 and later served as Minister of Commerce in 1982.
