A former member of House of Representatives, Chief Bernard Ochepa, has declared his intention to contest the chairmanship position of Benue State All Progressives Congress, APC, in the forthcoming state congress of the party.
Ochepa who made his intention known in Makurdi, said his quest for the position was borne out of his desire to have the party repositioned ahead of 2019 general elections.
Ochepa said: “I am joining the race to breathe fresh air into our dear party, which is faced with numerous challenges due to inability of the current chairman to embrace an all inclusive participation in the party.
“There is a need for a change in leadership of the party because if anyone tells you that our party is strong, especially in Benue South zone, he is deceiving you.
“The current leadership has failed in the task of rendering quality, purposeful and transparent leadership that would transform and reposition the party for the challenges ahead.
“I am here to build an all-inclusive, more people-focused and formidable party structure based on a purposeful and visionary leadership, where impunity, nepotism, thuggery and high handedness will have no place.”
