A former Senate President, Ameh Ebute, has volunteered to lead the Senatorial campaign of Dan Onjeh.
Ebute, who hails from Benue South Senatorial District was the Senate President during the 3rd Republic.
Speaking with newsmen on Wednesday September 12, 2018, Ebute explained that he volunteered to lead Onjeh’s campaign because the aspirant was “young and outspoken.”
The third Republic lawmaker said, “Onjeh is my candidate and I’m his elder and I’m advocating for him because he is a very outspoken and will put our plights through in the Senate.
“He is my son, I believe in his capacity to represent our people, it’s his time.”
Onjeh, who is the Board Chairman of Project Development Institute, PRODA, had declared his interest to vie for the Benue South Senatorial seat.
The PRODA Chairman will be vying for the seat on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Onjeh had in 2015 contested against the incumbent Senator and former Senate President, David Mark and lost narrowly.
Reacting to Ebute’s pledge, Onjeh expressed his gratitude for the gesture.
“I accept the fact that he volunteered with all humility and sincerity and I’m honoured for his pledge,” Onjeh added.
