Former Senator Ishaku Abbo, who represented the Adamawa North Senatorial District, is at the center of a new controversy following the release of a viral video allegedly showing him in a sexual scandal.
The video, which surfaced online last week, reportedly depicts a light-skinned man engaged in sexual activity with a woman identified as married. Although many have speculated that the man in the video is Senator Abbo, these claims have not been verified.
This controversy follows a previous scandal in 2019, when Abbo was filmed assaulting a nursing mother in an Abuja sex toy shop. The incident drew widespread condemnation and led to legal proceedings, significantly impacting his political career.
In response to the recent allegations, Senator Abbo held a press conference on Thursday, firmly denying any involvement in the video. According to Punch, Abbo dismissed the claims as attempts to damage his reputation, arguing that the video’s quality makes it impossible to definitively identify him.
Abbo stated, “It’s impossible to identify someone without seeing their face or body. Only parts of the legs are visible in the video. This is a smear campaign aimed at tarnishing my image.”
He further asserted, “Blackmail won’t deter me from winning elections. A senator from one of the northern states was in a similar video but still won his election, as did his wife. My supporters appreciate my work, and no amount of blackmail will change that.”
The former senator has threatened legal action against those responsible for spreading the video, accusing them of attempting to malign his character. He emphasized that despite the scandal, his record and support from his constituents remain strong, and he is undeterred by the ongoing controversy.
