Former Super Eagles goalkeeper targets coaching job
Former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Peter Rufai has thrown his hat into the ring for the role of coaching the goalkeepers in the Super Eagles squad.
Renowned as one of Nigeria’s finest goalkeepers, Rufai boasts an impressive legacy in Nigerian football. With a career spanning 65 appearances for the three-time African champions, his expertise is widely acknowledged.
The 59-year-old former Lokeren goalie brings a wealth of experience to the table. Despite retiring from the national team, he has never been involved in its coaching setup.
Rufai has now vocalized his aspiration to contribute his knowledge to the development of goalkeeping within the Super Eagles. In an interview on Sports Salsa (Kennis 104.1FM), he stated, “I’m ready for them. To show them techniques of goalkeeping. I’m waiting to be one of the Super Eagles coaches sometime, someday. We have to get it right. We have goalkeepers but something is missing. You can’t give what you don’t have… we have the talents. Goalkeeping goes beyond catching the ball.”
