A 25-year-old individual named Ahmadu Saminu, originating from Bajoga in the Funakaye Local Government Area of Gombe State, has been apprehended by officers from the Gombe State Police Command.

Known locally as Malam Mai Batalia, Saminu operates as a fortune teller, boasting a diverse clientele spanning various local government areas, states, and neighboring regions. He specializes in interpreting dreams and offering insights to his clients.

However, his activities took a dark turn when a woman, allegedly seeking interpretation for a troubling dream, fell victim to him. She was purportedly hypnotized during her visit and subsequently sexually assaulted.

According to sources, “After seeking interpretation for her dream, she was hypnotized and violated.”

Confirming the arrest and allegations, Gombe State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Buhari Abdullahi, stated that Saminu was indeed detained for allegedly impregnating someone’s wife.

Abdullahi explained, “The victim, aged 20, visited Saminu after dreaming that her mother was a witch, seeking clarification. Instead, she was coerced into his room.”

Regarding the alleged pregnancy, Abdullahi added, “We cannot confirm until medical examination results are obtained. The victim claims she was pregnant for four months but suffered a miscarriage. We’ve taken her to the hospital for examination, and the case is under legal scrutiny.”

Meanwhile, some residents of Funakaye have expressed concern over alleged efforts to secure Saminu’s release.

One resident, identified as Hassan, suggested that influential figures connected to Saminu are attempting to intervene on his behalf. “Mai Batalia has influential ties, and pressure to release him is not unprecedented,” he remarked.

Another resident, Muhammad, warned against releasing Saminu without consequences, citing potential unrest among youths. “Some youths are considering drastic measures if he’s released without accountability. His actions have caused enough harm,” he asserted.
