The Forum of Local Government Council Secretaries, Benue State Chapter, Sunday, 14th February, paid a courtesy call on the Senator Representing Benue South Senatorial District, Comrade Abba Patrick Moro, at his Otukpo residence.
The Forum was led by the Chairman, Hon. Ben King Atighir, the Secretary of Gboko Local Government Area.
Speaking on behalf of the team, Hon. Ben said their visit was to congratulate Senator Moro on his well deserved victory at the 2019 general election and also appreciate him for his resilience, patience and tolerance to wait for his own time in the Senate.
The Forum hailed the Comrade-Senator for not fighting his predecessor but rather waited patiently for his time to come in order to lead his people.
The Forum identified with the laudable achievements of the Ogigo-Mebe K’Idoma in Benue South Senatorial District and beyond in areas of human empowerment and infrastructural development.
Hon. Atighir took his time to x-ray the Senator’s sterling leadership as a Lecturer, Local Government Chairman, ALGON Chairman, Benue State Chapter, Chairman Governing Council, Minister and now Senator. He said in less than two years at the Hallowed Chamber, Senator Moro had attracted several infrastructural development to his Senatorial District. He appreciated the various appointments of Benue youths irrespective of tribe or religion facilitated with the Senator.
The Forum described Comrade Moro as a detribalized leader suitable for Benue State to move forward.
The Forum also thanked Senator Moro for nominating one of their members as Secretary of Okpokwu Local Government on the ground of gender sensitivity, who happens to be the only female Secretary out of the 23 Local Government Secretaries in Benue. The Forum used the occasion to confer on the Senator THE PILLAR OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT SCRIBE in Benue State.
Responding, Senator Moro acknowledged the importance of the Third Tier of Government, which the Forum belongs, and promised to work with them to consolidate the existing relationship in order to bring meaningful development and opportunities to the grassroots. He thanked his guests for the visit and wished them the best in the discharge of their responsibilities.
