No fewer than 10,000 members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Benue State are set to dump the party.
The development follows the controversial governorship primary election, which purported produced a suspended Catholic Priest, Haycinth Alia as its candidate.
IDOMA VOICE recalls that controversy has been trailing the emergence of Alia as the party’s guber flag bearer in the state as many of the aspirants had rejected the outcome.
The aspirants in separate letters to the APC national headquarters, insisted that the process that purported produced Alia was flaw.
Some aspirants including Barnabas Gemade, Steve Lawani and others have all rejected the outcome of the controversial exercise.
Herman Hembe, who earlier contested for the sole ticket had since joined the Labour Party, where he emerged its candidate.
IDOMA VOICE gathered that some of the candidates have concluded plans leave the party and work against it in 2023.
A source said, “How do you expect them to be happy when after working for the party for years and someone out of the blue would be named gubernatorial flag bearer?
“Where is that done?. Where was the so-called Fr Alia when the party was deserted in 2018?
“They want to kill this party, we will help them to finish it.
“As far as we are concerned, we don’t have governorship candidate in Benue APC.
“APC is now Akume and Agada Private Company. Impunity in the party is what will eventually kill it and will are going to help them to bury it.
“So far, over 10,000 members are set to leave the party with aggrieved aspirants,” the source who did not want his name mentioned said.
Asked which party they would be joining, another source, who is an APC stalwart in Ogbadibo said, “There are many political parties in Nigeria. When the is ripe, you will hear.”
