Franck Ribery retires from football due to injury
Former Bayern Munich and France winger Franck Ribery has announced his retirement from football. The 39-year-old has terminated his contract with Serie A side Salernitana after struggling with a knee issue.
Ribery would be remembered for his time with German side Bayern Munich where he scored 124 goals and contributed 182 assists in 425 games for the Bavarians from 2007-2019, winning the UEFA Champions League in 2013 and nine Bundesliga titles.
The former Marseille star confirmed his retirement from the game with an official statement released on his Twitter page on Friday.
The former France international joined Fiorentina before moving to Salernitana last summer, helping the club avoid relegation by one point but he has not featured since the opening day loss to Roma. His retirement had been rumoured for several weeks.
