Fresh bloodbath in Benue

The Benue State Police Command has confirmed the clash between Jukun and Tiv ethnic groups in Benue State.

The incident, DAILY POST gathered left many people dead and several houses razed.

The crisis reportedly broke out when two young men of Tiv and Jukun ethnic groups clashed at Feedi Market on Monday.
The matter was said to have resulted into a heavy fight, which allegedly led to the killing of one person simply identified as Tsegba Terver and two other persons.
Speaking with our correspondent, the Benue State Police PRO, Moses Yamu said, the command has been briefed about the development.

“Yes, we are aware. Our men are already there to curb the situation. I will let you know the real cause of the crisis shortly, ” her said Yamu, however said only one person lost his life in the incident.

“From the report we had from the area, only one person was killed and several houses burnt.

“Also, seventeen persons have arrested in connection with the crime and would soon be charged to court after interrogation.”
