The latest set of Medical Doctors who graduated from the Benue State University School of Health Sciences Makurdi and the Nigeria Medical Students Association, NMSA, has honoured Governor Samuel Ortom for his exploits in the health sector in the State.

While the medical doctors honoured the Governor as Grand Commander of the Benue State Medical Students, the NMSA also presented an award of honour to the Governor for his show of love and care for the medical profession.

Leader of the medical doctors, Doctor Shitindi Terungwa stated during a separate courtesy call on the Governor that they are today called doctors due to the untiring efforts of the Governor as exemplified in the full accreditation of the School of Health Sciences of the Benue State University Makurdi.

He revealed that the Benue State University Teaching Hospital is the only health institution in the North Central with a CT Scan Machine, stressing that the attention given to health institutions in the state is next to non.

On his part, National President of the NMSA, Master Josiah Ngibo, a final year student of the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria said the Governor had taken away the shame of the medical students of the State University which had paved way for the graduation of close to two hundred medical doctors from the institution alone, adding that his free treatment of snake bites had also saved many lives.

He appealed for steady water supply to the medical students of the Benue State School of Health Sciences to address their water needs.

Governor Ortom congratulated the medical doctors on their successful graduation despite enormous challenges and also expressed appreciation to God for using him to add value to the health sector in the state.

The Governor urged the medical students to make their academic work top on their priority, stressing that the medical profession requires discipline and commitment which they must exhibit in order to make their parents or guardians proud.

While directing the state Commissioner for Health and Human Services to look into the water challenge faced by the students, the Governor stated that with the required resources at his disposal, he would never allow any Benue child to experience what he passed through to acquire education.
