Fubara chases away policemen sent to stop Rivers LG polls
Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara has expressed his frustration with the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, accusing him of undermining his administration and the peace in the state.
Fubara claims that Egbetokun is acting as a tool for those intent on disrupting the local government elections scheduled for Saturday.
The governor’s accusations come after he visited the headquarters of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) early Friday morning, where he confronted and ordered police officers deployed from neighboring Imo State to leave the premises.
Following the confrontation, a visibly angry Fubara stated that nothing would prevent the elections from proceeding as planned.
