Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has sworn in 23 new caretaker chairmen for the state’s local government areas.
The ceremony took place on Wednesday at the Government House in Port Harcourt, amid tight security.
According to reports, the swearing-in was conducted in the Council Chambers, with the first batch of 11 caretaker chairmen taking their oath of office.
This event follows Governor Fubara’s submission of the nominees list to the state House of Assembly, led by factional Speaker Victor Jumbo, the previous day.
The lawmakers had summoned the nominees for screening at 8 a.m. on Wednesday.
