FUHSO: VC Ujah did not appoint governing council – Registrar (Official statement)
The management of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo (FUHSO), has debunked the alleged lopsided recruitment exercises in the institution saying the misinformation was unfortunate and all out to cause misgivings and disaffection.
In a statement signed by the Registrar and Secretary to Council of FUHSO, Mal. Aminu Abba, said the management has always been mindful and indeed, reflect the diversity of the country in all its dealings, especially in the recruitment of staff and admission of students.
His words, “the management of FUHSO has been recruited solely on the basis of qualification, competence and adherence to the Federal Character and catchment area principles in strict accordance to the rules of the Federal Ministry of Education and the National Universities Commission.” Abba reiterated.
The Registrar stated that the Governing Council and principal officers of FUHSO were appointed by President Muhammad Buhari. The appointment cut across the six geopolitical zones in the country.
Abba continued, “Our core values are hinged on integrity, transparency, accountability, dedication, innovation and partnership. These are virtues we shall pursue with the highest vigour, commitment, sincerity and patriotism.”
He pointed out that in as much as the institution will welcome constructive and solution proffering criticisms at all times, it is pertinent to point out that at this nascent stage, all hands should be in deck towards laying a solid foundation for an eventual excellent medical superstructure.
“The management of FUHSO will not be distracted by succumbing to deliberate politically based mischief and falsehood.”. Abba said.
He assured that FUHSO is always committed to building a universal institution that is open to the global practice, thereby called on all Nigerians to join hands in the task of raising FUHSO to an amiable height.
