Fulham table bid for Calvin Bassey

Fulham has officially submitted a written bid to Ajax for the talented Nigerian center-back, Calvin Bassey. The initial offer is believed to be valued at approximately £15 million, covering a four-year contract, as reported by David Ornstein.

As of now, Ajax has not responded to the bid, but there is also reported interest from Brighton and Holve Albion for Bassey’s services. Similarly, both Brighton and Fulham are in the running to secure the signature of Florentina defender Igor, a 25-year-old Brazilian player.

Calvin Bassey’s appeal to Fulham lies in his versatility, as he can effectively operate in both the left-back and central defense positions. His speed and determination on the field are also noteworthy attributes that contribute to his overall game.

Brighton had previously attempted to acquire Bassey last year, but the player ultimately joined Ajax instead. However, the Dutch giants might consider allowing the 23-year-old defender to leave if the right transfer fee is offered. Bassey’s debut season with Ajax did not entirely showcase his full potential, as he struggled to adapt to their style of play and unfortunately became a frequent target for criticism during their downturn last season
