Nigerian rapper Tochukwu Gbubemi Ajogwu, known as Odumodublvck, and Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy are proudly representing Nigeria on the 2024 BET Hip Hop Awards nomination list.
The full list of nominees was unveiled on Thursday, with Odumodublvck earning a nod for ‘Best International Flow’ and Burna Boy nominated for ‘Best Live Performance.’
Since rising to mainstream fame in 2023, Odumodublvck has quickly become one of Africa’s top hip-hop artists and the first Nigerian to receive a nomination in this category at the BET Awards.
He will compete against rappers from France, Brazil, the UK, and South Africa for the chance to be the first Nigerian rapper to win a BET Hip Hop award.
Burna Boy’s nomination for ‘Best Live Performance’ pits him against heavyweights like Cardi B, Nicki Minaj, Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott, Drake, Megan Thee Stallion, Missy Elliott, Busta Rhymes, and GloRilla.
Megan Thee Stallion leads this year’s awards with 12 nominations, followed closely by Kendrick Lamar with 11. Burna Boy and Odumodublvck each received one nomination.
