The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has released the full list of 113 tertiary institutions that failed to complete the mandatory student verification exercise, rendering them ineligible for participation in the 2024/2025 Federal Government student loan scheme.

According to a statement issued on Friday by Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, Director of Strategic Communications at NELFUND, the affected institutions did not meet the verification requirements before the stipulated deadline.

Oluwatuyi explained that the verification process is a key prerequisite for students’ access to the interest-free loan, stressing that failure to comply would deprive students of the opportunity to benefit from the scheme.

Some of the institutions on the list include the College of Administration, Management and Technology, Potiskum; College of Nursing Sciences, Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba; Federal College of Forestry, Ibadan; Nigerian Institute of Leather and Science Technology, Zaria; and the University of Ilesa, Osun State.

NELFUND urged all defaulting institutions to take immediate steps to update their student data when the next loan application cycle begins later in October 2025.

The Fund reiterated its commitment to equitable access to higher education through transparent and efficient management of the Federal Government’s student loan scheme.
